Property Insurance Rating Consultant - Contract

Location: Fully Remote (Preferably PST hours; flexible as needed)
Duration: Approximately 3 months (Contract Role)
Compensation Range: $85 – $150/hour (Top-tier specialists: $130–$150/hour)
Start Date: Immediate, with project completion expected within three months

Position Overview:
We seek a highly skilled Property Insurance Rating Consultant to develop a comprehensive, standardized rating framework for our organization’s major carrier partners. This is a contract opportunity designed for an independent expert with deep carrier-specific knowledge and proven experience in insurance rating processes. The role is fully remote, offering flexibility in working hours, typically aligned with PST time zone.

This consultant will lead the analysis, documentation, quality control (QC) procedures, and training development necessary to establish a repeatable, auditable rating system. The outcome will be a robust knowledge base that enables our internal team to maintain rating accuracy and consistency long-term, even after project completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carrier Rating Processes: Analyze and understand how each carrier’s rating methodology functions, without extensive onboarding, leveraging existing knowledge of carriers like Chubb, Travelers, Zurich, and others.
  • Documentation & Standardization: Create clear, standardized documentation of each carrier’s rating process, ensuring ease of understanding and application.
  • Training Material Development: Design comprehensive training resources, reference guides, practical exercises, and assessments to enhance rating proficiency among Account Managers and processors.
  • Workflow & QC Design: Develop standardized rating worksheets, templates, and validation checklists to improve consistency and accuracy across all accounts. Establish QC procedures, including peer review and audit steps, to ensure ongoing rating integrity.
  • Knowledge Transfer & Training: Conduct hands-on training sessions to embed best practices, and identify/train an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) to take ownership of the rating process post-project.
  • Process Sustainment: Build a future-proof, scalable rating framework that integrates quality controls and training tools, facilitating ongoing team performance and minimizing external dependency.
Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in property insurance rating methodologies across multiple carriers.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently decipher complex rating systems.
  • Experience developing training programs, documentation, and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical processes into clear, standardized workflows.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with a focus on delivering tangible outcomes within a specified timeframe.
Benefits & Career Development:
  • Opportunity to lead a critical project that will significantly enhance internal rating processes and team efficiency.
  • Develop a scalable, global-standardized rating framework with long-lasting impact.
  • Gain recognition as an internal SME, positioning yourself as a key authority within the organization.
  • Enhance your portfolio with a high-visibility project that demonstrates cross-functional collaboration and process optimization.
Why Join Us?
This role offers a unique chance to apply your expertise in a strategic capacity, supporting our organization’s ability to streamline and standardize complex property insurance rating processes. Your work will ensure high-quality, compliant ratings, providing a lasting contribution to the team’s operational excellence.
