We seek a highly skilled Grid Modeling Researcher dedicated to advancing the modeling, simulation, and analysis of electrical power grids. The successful candidate will engage in pioneering research, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development of next-generation grid technologies and optimization strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enhance computational models to simulate electrical grid behavior, including load flow, stability, and reliability analyses.
Conduct research on grid modernization topics such as renewable integration, distributed energy resources, demand response, and smart grid technologies.
Analyze grid performance under various scenarios, including extreme weather events and high renewable penetration.
Validate and calibrate models using real-world data; maintain rigorous documentation of assumptions, methods, and results.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, research papers, and presentations for diverse audiences, including academic, regulatory, and industry stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data scientists, software engineers, policy analysts) to translate research insights into practical applications.
Stay abreast of emerging grid research, modeling tools, and industry best practices; contribute to thought leadership and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in power system modeling, simulation, or analysis.
Proficiency with tools such as PSSE, PowerWorld, GridLAB-D, OpenDSS, MATPOWER, or equivalent platforms.
Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, Julia) and data analysis expertise.
Deep understanding of power system operations, grid stability mechanisms, and renewable energy integration challenges.
Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Annual Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000, commensurate with experience, education, and geographic location within the U.S.
