Position Overview
The Financial Analyst/Budget Analyst will play an integral role in supporting NYSERDA s Finance unit by assisting with day-to-day, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial activities. This role is responsible for translating financial data into meaningful financial results, reports, and projections that support management decision-making. The position requires frequent interaction with NYSERDA s management team, program staff, and internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, or budget management.
- 3 5 years of direct experience reconciling subsidiary ledgers and general ledger accounts.
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using Microsoft Office 365.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate financial data and support sound decision-making.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising strong judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration , with a minor or concentration in Accounting preferred.
- Degree in public policy, finance, mathematics, computer science, or another analytically rigorous field is also acceptable if supported by strong technical and financial experience.
